The Program and Outreach Associate supports the Executive Director in the development of Batonga’s overall strategy, the integration and implementation of programs at country level as well as provides technical assistance. In practice this means participating in, and managing specific work streams within global and country strategies, playing a key role in developing and maintaining partnerships, drafting and revising proposals and reports, reviewing budgets and expense reports, and managing Batonga’s day-to-day tasks and communication.

Key Responsibilities

Support Batonga’s strategy and its implementation in country (manage expense reports, assist with budgets, data analysis, strategic planning and monitoring and evaluation).

Keep up to date with trends and developments on girls’ rights and gender equality by participating in relevant sector events/meetings, support public relations efforts and serve as an enthusiastic ambassador and spokesperson, and where Batonga convenes events, support with preparation of key learning and evidence to showcase.

Manage NGO records, contacts and essential documentation, compose annual reports and manage circulation, assist with meeting preparation, mailings and travel logistics.

Head-up donor relations and development (research individuals, foundations and companies that will give major gifts and develop/manage outreach timeline, draft grant proposals, manage fundraising events in Washington, DC and New York City).

Coordinate efforts with Angelique’s management team

Skills and Experience

Minimum Bachelors Degree or equivalent in International Development or a relevant subject

Experience working on girls’ rights or women’s rights programming and gender equality a plus

Excellent communication and organizational skills

MS Office Suite and social media savvy

French language a plus

A collaborative team player

High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

Adaptable – able to work in complex, unfamiliar and changing environments

Self-starter – confident and proactive in generating and leading new initiatives

Positive, energetic, can-do attitude
