2nd June 2013
Exciting progress is being made at one of Batonga’s newest programs in Ethiopia! Working in partnership with Mercy Corps, our main objective is to help girls complete secondary school and to empower women and girls through increased participation in economic activities. Over the past six months, we are happy to report that:
140 girls are receiving scholarships to continue their education;
82 girls are receiving vocational training and support to increase their employment opportunities;
58 women have completed vocational training programs;
57 women have completed business training and have received loans;
150 women are engaged in local programs that teach about savings and loans.
These numbers will continue to rise as The Batonga Foundation and Mercy Corps work together to support these girls and offer them great educational opportunities!
